Hi Peter,
I hadn't heard of adding I and E to the SMART acronym, that's very interesting.

A mentoring organisation which I am involved with recommend to add an I and an E to the traditional SMART acronym, making S.M.A.R.T.I.E. goals.

I for Integrity which is to ensure your goals fit in with your overarching beliefs about life, the universe and everything. As a loose example for dieting, that would mean a Jewish person probably wouldn't choose to replace red meat with pork even if it meant getting to their desired weight faster.

E for Emotional which you touched on under one of your points. This is where you ensure you have an emotional attachment to the goal. This could be a reward, or a penalty, depending on how you want to enforce your own compliance with your goals!
