MyPyramid Step-by-Step Guide to Good Health
The path to a healthy lifestyle isn’t the same for everyone, and most likely it will change over the years. So, it’s important to take stock of what you’re currently doing, and access whether this “plan” is still meeting all of your needs.
Think of healthy eating as a journey, which you are taking to reach better health! Your personal journey may take many twists and turns along the way, but if you remain focused on where you want to end up, you will eventually get there, albeit a slightly different path to what you had originally planned!
As you are traveling down your personal path, take small steps that are right for you, and make them one at a time. Remember, each step is leading you closer your final health goals.
I love the format of MyPyramid. It’s a great step-by-step guide to healthy eating and physical activity. I feel it represents very well those small steps, which we take each day to reach our health goals. The MyPyramid website also provide a wealth of information on all things ‘healthy eating’, and it really is worth taking a look.

Similar to the Eatwell Plate, MyPyramid is divided into the main food groups, which gives an indication of how our daily diet should look. For example, “Grains” make up a large proportion, whereas the “Oils” group indicate a very small amount.
The format of MyPyramid is very different to the Eatwell Plate, and personally, I do favour the plate format, however I feel the Pyramid has a lot of offer.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the Plate Model or the Pyramid model better?
MyPyramid suggest 5 top tips for achieving a healthier lifestyle:
- Be Realistic
Make small changes over time in what you eat and the level of activity you do. - Be Adventurous
Expand your tastes to enjoy a variety of different foods and physical activities. - Be Flexible
Find the balance between what you eat and the physical activity you do over several days. - Be Sensible
Enjoy the foods you do eat, just don’t overdo it. - Be Active
Walk the dog, don’t just watch your dog do all the walking!
I’d love to hear from you, to answer any queries you currently have.

I am so proud of any person who has made a commitment to eating healthy, in particular, raw whole food. Monitoring a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, loving relationships and superior nutrition is required for self health! I am an esophageal (stage 1) cancer survivor. Since 1990 I have been making superior eating choices and have had excellent biopsy check-ups and normal blood work. Recently I was introduced to and have become a distributor for raw whole food snack alternatives and meal replacements. This whole food promotes my lifetime changes that assure my ideal weight and enhance my health. I travel often and take along convenient milo bags of Phi Plus, Fruitalicious and Veggelicious. I am energized every step of my trips! This food supports grazing throughout the day which is better for our digestive systems and pancreas. Check out http://www.naturalresourcesdiet.com and become informed about recent nutritional research about raw whole food nutrition with opportunity to order. My phone number is available…call with ANY questions and we’ll journey together. See you in cyberspace. Yours in health, Linda Ann

Linda Ann - you are most welcome! I was very interested to read your comment, and am so glad to hear about your recovery from cancer.
I was just wondering did you follow a whole food diet as part of your treatment, or did you go through the conventional method (chemo etc)? I have heard quite a lot about the healing benefits of eating whole fruit and veg, and other nutrients such as glyconutrients, however I have not met, or spoken to, anyone who has experienced this in their own recovery.
I did visit the site you mentioned above, and was particularly interested in one of the video clips about our food supply!
Many thanks for stopping by and contributing.
