Dietriffic Launches a New Site Design

As you may already have noticed, we’ve had a little “interior decor” going on around here with the launch of my new site design. I wanted a new design for 2008 that was fresh, bright, and colourful. Again my husband has worked very hard on this one, and I think it’s a real credit to him.

You may also have noticed that I’m now focusing on “Healthy eating for busy people,” this won’t be a massive change in topic direction, however you should see a few posts geared towards time management, quick healthy eating tips, and organisational skills for busy people etc.

I’m very eager to find out what you think positive, or negative. Please leave a comment, or contact me with your suggestions:

  • What do you like/dislike?
  • What do you think of the colour scheme, and layout?
  • What about the font, and font size?
  • Is it user friendly?
  • Any other comments?

I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you! Please do leave a comment, whether you’re a regular reader, or new to the site, I’d love to hear your thoughts, and ideas! Also if you do happen to notice something that isn’t working now, do let me know and I’ll try to get it fixed.

Dear Mel & Armen,

Congratulations on the new site design! I know it’s a lot of hard work to update a blog theme to how you want it. I think you’ve done an excellent job. It’s clean, fresh and easy to read.

Interesting new angle too – healthy eating for busy people. I think that’s going to appeal to so many!

Best wishes for now and the future.
~ James

Hi James – many thanks for your kind comments!

Yes, I hope the new angle will be useful to people, we are all so busy – I will certainly benefit from my own advice!!

Excellent design by Armen. He’s certainly becoming the accomplished WP designer these days, and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of work coming up for him.

The type size is great, although the white text on green in the sidebar could be a little more legible (either through an increase in size or a slightly darker green).

Best of luck with it!

Wow Mel, quite a change – but I like it. Well done to both you and Armen. A new site design is always challenging! Love the picture you’ve used in your banner – fresh, clean and beautiful colours.

Hi David – thanks for your feedback. Armen upped the font two sizes, and removed the bold, I think it’s more legible now – what do you think? Are you using Safari or Firefox?

Workout mom – thank you for commenting, glad you like!

Kathryn – yes it’s pretty different, thanks for your feedback on the banner pic too – doesn’t it make you want to eat salad?? :-L

I happen to love this new design, its fresh, clean and powerful, yet simplistic. I love it. Did I already say that?

It feels good just being on the site. Sort of like a cleansing feeling. I look forward to Reading through all of the great information.

Fat Man – Well…thank you very much [blush!!]

I do like the idea of my site having a “cleansing” feeling, that is excellent…very funny indeed!

Melanie love, I like the design a lot!

The layout, color and general theme of the site matches your topic and its very refreshing. Font sizes look great on my Mac using Safari. No complaints at all.

Mr Davey B – why thank you sir, much appreciated!!

Changing the font size seemed to solve the legibility problem we had with Safari earlier, haven’t viewed it on a Mac yet, I’m sure the “experience” will be awesome when I do!!!

Hi Melanie,

I think the increased typesize in the sidebar definitely improves legibility. One thing you might want to make a note of is your logo in the author comments. If you look at the reply you gave to my previous comment, you’ll see that your text runs over the logo, making it look a little messy. It’s a very small point, but thought you might appreciate my input.

All the very best.

I just want to thank everyone for their comments, and the constructive and positive feedback. It’s very humbling :)

David A. – Thanks my friend. I’m aware of the author comment issue, and I know I need to change it. I’m going to give it some thought tonight, and hopefully come up with something more suitable.

Ruth,

Glad you like the new design!

We had to look up what “Darby and Joan” meant, LOL!!! Neither of us had heard of this term before, very funny indeed!!
