10 Healthy Christmas Brunch Ideas

Is Christmas brunch on your agenda this year?

With last minute shopping, work parties, and family get-togethers, it’s a tiring time of year!

And, the chance to lie in bed a little longer is certainly a welcome treat for most of us, making Christmas brunch a very popular option.

If you’re after light and healthy Christmas brunch ideas, check out the list below.

You could serve any combination of these suggestions to make up a delicious brunch buffet that will impress everyone…they won’t even notice it’s healthy!

#1 Pancakes made with wholemeal flour and ground cinnamon; served with mixed creme fraiche, and seasonal berries.

#2 Wholegrain crackers topped with avocado slices, smoked salmon strips, chives, and drizzled with an olive oil, and balsamic vinegar dressing.

#3 Lightly cooked spinach, topped with a poached egg, and a dollop of creme fraiche.

#4 Fresh fruit platter, using a selection of red and green seedless grapes, sliced strawberries, blueberries, kiwifruit, melon, cherries, or any other seasonal fruit that’s available. Serve with frozen natural yoghurt.

#5 Cooked oats with cinnamon, dried cranberries, and a sprinkling of chopped nuts.

#6 Frittata – made with reduced fat milk, eggs, nutmeg, cheddar cheese, onions, bell peppers, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and chives.

#7 Wholegrain English muffin, topped with a poached egg, grilled asparagus, and tomatoes.

#8 Low fat Greek yoghurt, with toasted porridge oats, raspberries and nuts, lightly mixed together.

#9 Toasted wholegrain bagel, topped with scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, and mushrooms.

#10 Fruity skewers with chunks of mango, strawberry, and pineapple; served with natural yoghurt.

Or, try out this recipe for fruity sangria punch:

Ingredients:

1 cup of whole orange juice
1 litre of pineapple juice
1 lemon halved and sliced
1 orange halved and sliced
250g sliced strawberries
1.25L chilled soda water

Preparation:

  1. Combine the orange and pineapple juice in a jug, add the lemon, orange and sliced strawberries.
  2. Add chilled soda water just before serving.
