3 Life Improving Ways to Be Thankful

Do you know how to be thankful?

Perhaps you’ve been taking life for granted lately. Too caught up with work, or health issues, or something else?

I urge you to stop and take a look at the world around you…you may begin to see things a little differently.

Today’s challenge is to be thankful!

Here are 3 ways you can be more thankful today:

#1 Create a gratitude ritual
Every day take a couple of minutes to be thankful for your family and friends, your health, your achievements, and simply for the day itself.

#2 Be thankful for the negative things
I know this is difficult, but a positive attitude will help you overcome so much. In difficult times you learn patience, understanding, strength, humility, love, and the importance of life itself…but you must be willing to learn these things!

Kahlil Gibran said:

“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.”

#3 Say thank you to someone
Can you spare a few moments to write a thank you card to someone kind in your life?

Also, in everyday life try to be kind and courteous to those around you – your kind words could make all the difference in someones life today.

What are you thankful for today?

Yep, you do have to acknowledge the negative things otherwise you end up getting bogged down in them….it’s like taking the time ‘to forgive’ and maybe ‘to grieve’..

Just recently I found myself have to forgive me for failing one of the papers this Semester….what annoyed me at the time was the goal of getting my degree in the Autumn of 2011. Finally, a good friend of me reminded me that I would still be xyz age in the Spring of that year….so I spent a bit of time grieving AND then got on with life. Now I can joke about it :-) ))

I regularily thank friends…..many of them go out of there way to make sure I can get out to events and things. I don’t own a car, and sometimes the timeframe of the event means I appreciate a lift there and back.

    Hey Cathy,
The simple fact is having a negative attitude doesn’t change the facts, or solve the problems! Just like many things, negativity becomes a habit, which needs to be broken like any other bad habit.

Sounds like you’re learning this, which is great!

I agree. When you even speak negativity, guess what comes right back at you….negativity. If you look hard enough, there is always
a good glimmer to almost every situation. So, give thanks and be happy!

    Hi Kathi,
Yes, that’s it exactly, you have to look for it sometimes! That takes effort, but it’s worth it as you point out. Thank you!
