How often do you eat legumes?

They are extremely nutritious, being an excellent source of protein, low in fat, high in fibre, and other nutrients and antioxidants, and they’re cheap.

So, what are legumes?
They are made up of peas, beans and lentils, and can also be referred to as pulses.
A serving is roughly 3-heaped tablespoons of beans. You should try to add legumes to your diet at least two or three times per week.
6 ways to add more legumes into your diet today:
- Replace half the meat in your recipes with beans, peas or lentils
- Serve pureed beans with raw veggie crudites, or bread sticks
- Have baked beans on toast
- Make lentil soup or lentil curry
- Add a mixed bean salad to your lunchbox
- Add legumes to all soups, stews, casserole, and curries

Good tip! I’ve put them in curries before, but I don’t use them often. I usually resort to chick peas or kidney beans.
