Are you striving to beat your personal best when exercising?
Many of us get into a rut of competing the same exercise workout week after week.
While any movement is better than nothing, if you really want to see results you need to step your routine up a notch!
Today’s challenge is to up the intensity of your current workout
There are a number of important ingredients for an effective workout. Here’s 3 of them:
#1 Consistency
If you’re going to see results in your effort to be healthier and lose weight, you need to be exercising regularly.
It’s no use having the best workout program on the market, if you keep missing it! But, by exercising every day, or at least every second day, you will increase your changes of getting results.
Also, try to do your best not to miss two days in a row of exercise.
#2 Effort
Exercising regularly isn’t the only thing you need to do. You also need to be putting effort into your workout.
So, it’s important to use your exercise time wisely, and make it worthwhile.
Throughout your workout keep asking yourself these questions, “Am I working hard?” “Could I step it up just a little more?”
#3 Progression
We tend to be creatures of habit, so completing the same workout week after week is very tempting.
But, the key to getting real results from your exercise routine is to endeavor to perform a little better than you did in your previous workout.
If you keep dong this, you’ll certainly see results.
Perhaps you could add a couple of minutes jogging to your normal walk. Or, if you already jog, can you up the pace for a few minutes to get your heart rate pumping again?
You could also try doing a few lunges or press ups in the middle of your walk to shake it up a little.
Whatever you decide to do, it’s simply about trying to improve every time you exercise.
How can you up the intensity of your workout today?

I think another good way to get your best work-out ever is to do exercises that you really like. It may not be the work-out that experts suggest, but that is absolutely not important. Moving your body every day to build strength and flexibility is what is key.
Even though I own a mountain of work-out DVDs, I used to have long lapses of not exercising. Last year I finally figured out why, I dislike cardio and weight lifting exercises immensely, and that made me avoid exercising. I now realize that I love floor exercises and I enjoy my work-outs much more now that I have stopped forcing myself to do cardio and lift weights.
My floor exercises consist of pilates, calanetics and yoga and that combined with 8 min Taebo (LOVE IT) gives me my best work-out several times a week.

Japenese elegance,
Yes, you’re right. I always tell my clients this, as you say if you hate the exercise you’re doing you’ll never be able to stick with it.
For me, I despise going to the gym, so walking is my main form of exercise, and while it may not be the fastest way to get results, I enjoy it, and it’s get me into the fresh air, which I love!
