On The Move…Again!

Well, I’m sitting here in Abu Dhabi International Airport waiting for our next flight to Heathrow, and then on to Belfast.

For those of you who have been following Dietriffic for any length of time, you’ll probably be aware that I’ve been living in Australia. However, our (my husband and I) two year visa has come to an end, and we’re now returning to where we call ‘home’ (a.k.a. Northern Ireland).

It’s been a great experience living in another part of the world for a significant period of time, and being able to learn from the different culture in Australia, as well as the different lifestyle.

In fact, if we  had never moved to Australia, then there would probably be no Dietriffic.

Imagine that?

Starting this website was a way for me to help people, even though I wasn’t able to take on a proper ‘job’, and every time I get an email or comment from someone who appreciates what I’m doing here, it’s always a reminder to me that what I’m doing is really benefiting people. Always a good thing.

Anyway, I better go. I’m hoping it won’t take too long to get things organised when we get back to Northern Ireland. I’ve got a heap of things that have been sitting on my to-do list for you, as well as a few things which are half done.

But, before all that, here are some things we have ahead of us…

  • Trying to find a new home
  • Probably look for a new car
  • Get myself a new laptop (seriously, my Dell is about to die!)
  • Do the ’rounds’ in visiting friends and family
  • …and all the other stuff which goes with moving across the world and ‘setting up home’

Next time you hear from me, we’ll be on the beautiful shores of Northern Ireland!

P.S. Have you ever moved across the world? Any tips?

WOW Mel, I hadn’t realised you were even a short-termer in Aussie – you About Mel info doesn’t say that! I hadn’t really even wondered ‘who you were’ took you at face value because I enjoy your website.

Good Luck on your return to your homeland. I guess that even though you’ve probably kept in touch with Ireland you will find some huge changes in various areas.

I think the biggest suggestion I could make is: when the going gets a bit tuff, take time out to smell the roses and walk miles, breathe properly.

Look forward to hearing little tidbits about the health your homeland people, along with any new ideas that have put in place since you left. i.e. is the place greener, more people outdoors etc…

Best of luck with the move, Mel. Living somewhere else is always a challenge, but I find its a wonderful way to purge junk, meet new people and appreciate new surroundings. You should post some pics of your new home!

    curiousjessica’s last blog post..What I’m grateful for.

      Hey Cathy,
Oh yeah, I suppose my about page doesn’t really say that! I’ll have to update it again. Anyway, thanks for your tips, taking a break to smell the roses is a good one! :-)

      Hi Jessica,
Yes, I know what you mean about purging junk!! We looked at a house yesterday, so I think we will be moving in there soon. I might do a little video or some pics of the new place later.

    Hi,
I have enjoyed your website. Yeah I have moved from India to the middle east and then to Canada. I have lived in Vancouver, BC for years and I am moving to Australia soon.
    I would recommend these things:
Make a list and keep marking these off when you do them so that you can look back and see all that you have accomplished.
    Give yourself lots of grace
Take time to chill with your friends first and make new ones too.
    Blessings!
