Hi everyone,
I really hope you are doing well.
I’ve been meaning to say “hi!” now for some time, but I’m finding it difficult to drag myself away from Elissa, until now…
Well actually, she is right here on my lap, so we’re learning to multi-task together!
It’s now 6 weeks since I gave birth, can you believe it? How fast time goes!
I’m sure you can imagine there have been a few difficult days in that time, as I’ve tried to adjust to being a new mum, but overall it’s been a wonderful time of learning, growing and cherishing!
Elissa is doing extremely well. In the last week or so she has become much more alert. It’s been incredible to watch. She’s now smiling at us, and making ever-so-cute “cooing” noises. So sweet!
We’ve had very few problems with the breastfeeding (which I am truly thankful for), and her weight is right on the 50th centile for her age, at 9 lbs 7 oz (5 weeks old). So, we’re hoping this keeps up.
What a wonderful time these last few weeks have been for us all!
Anyway, I just wanted to reiterate what I said a few weeks back, in response to your lovely comments: I was absolutely blown away by each and every one.
I am so thankful to all of you for commenting, wishing us congratulations, and even giving advice on motherhood!
It’s wonderful to know you guys are there, and I’m so touched Elissa has been welcomed into the world with such kindness. That’ll be something to tell her in later years, won’t it?
Also, thank you to my wonderful hubby too. What a thoughtful thing to do
Just a few wee photos of Elissa…

I do hope to be writing a bit more regularly from now on.
Having a baby has certainly changed things, so any tips you can give on working from home with a new baby are most welcome.
Hopefully we can work it out. But, I’ll likely be testing my multi-tasking skills to the max, with a little bouncing baby in sling, and some one-handed typing! It should be very interesting…
Please do continue to email me with your queries, as always, I love hearing from you.

Kudos on the decision to breast-feed. For most women, it’s much more difficult than unexperienced people imagine.
Enjoy the quiet times during her naps. Napping will last for 3-4 years.

Hi Steve,
I’m feeding on demand, and I think this is why I’ve had very few problems. I suppose it depends on your views, perhaps the “demanding” nature of this type of feeding would make it a nuisance for some women, but I don’t see it that way.
If women want to breastfeed, I think it’s important they resign themselves to the fact that for the next few months feeding will be one of their main pastimes!! And, just put their feet up and enjoy the special time with their little baby.
Congrats! Very happy for you.

Hi Christopher,
Thank you!
Gee, what a lovely little girl. Way back 38 years ago, I had a semi baldy girl also. I used to tape a bow to her head for church. It wasn’t until years later they developed those head bands to hold the bows. Enjoy her babyhood, they grow so fast.

Deborah,
lol, yes she doesn’t have much hair on top yet!!
I have no ideas on ‘juggling baby/life’ – I love the idea that you’ve got her in training already – baby gym!

Cathy,
I think she will have ME in training… running around after her!
My heart just melts when I see little girl babies… ours is now 9 months old. I’m such a softie now! Congrats again. Life definitely does change with a little one but it is so awesome being a parent. The hardest part for us was getting sleep!

Blake,
Congratulations to you too. Is your little one crawling yet? I’m sure that’ll be an interesting stage! I agree, definitely a change for better being a parent.
Congrats (again?)! Elissa is beautiful – looking forward to seeing you post again
