Hi Amy,
Thanks so much for you kind comment. I'm glad you found the article helpful :-)

I didn't know much about BPA either until I did a bit of research for this article. I think it's good to be aware of, but not to get too obsessed about.

This is really interesting. I came across this article while browsing family blogs. I had never given any thought to plastics. I guess I just figured they were safe since they've been around so long. This was a very thoughtful and well organized article. Thanks for writing it. I learned something today.

Hi Kelly,
I think it's unfair too, particularly since many people don't even realise or think about this stuff.

In the UK tinned veg, for example, is considered okay by health professionals, but if you get all your veg from a tin, then there could be a problem. Obviously, that isn't ideal anyway, but many people do have diets like this, and they should be made aware of what's surrounding their food!

Good work with your diet, BTW!

I was a little obsessive with my son when he was born. Everything had to be perfect :) And it still has to be now he is 2.
With my son, I didn't think about the plastic issue much (because I didn't really need to) but knew that plastic wasn't ideal. So when I used a breastpump I made sure I got a glass bottle for his milk. I figured glass would be a lot safer and then I wouldn't have to have another thing worrying me!

I never buy tinned stuff so that isn't a problem. In fact 99% of my shopping comes from the fruit and veg isle!

Things like this really bother me though and for people who have a reliance on formula or who have to choose not-as-optimal- foods for their household due to a tight budget, I think this is just unfair that they have to have this sort of thing thrown on top.

Bobbie,
Agreed, you can definitely get a bit crazy worrying about all the "stuff" in our food, environment, etc. It's good to be aware, but try not to go OTT!

I came across this website [TheGreatFitnessExperiment.com] by accident. It is written by a women who is pretty obessive about what she eats, how much she eats, what size plate, etc. On the website is a link to a news program on ABC that interveiwed her and another person. It was pretty sad. I have a little obsessive compulsive in me. If I let myself get crazy about what makes up my containers, food, clothing, etc., I' m a goner. So, like you, I try to just keep an eye and not go crazy.
