For Success In 2013 Listen To The Toddler Version Of Yourself

Sometimes it’s necessary to revisit our childhood in order to realize what we’ve lost over the years.

There are things every single one of us find perfectly natural when we’re born.

For example, when we’re born, our breathing action is perfect and our vocal cords are used correctly.

As we grow up, however, we learn bad habits, with shallow breathing and poor use of our voice.

The same can be said about the way we approach problems, difficulties, and seemingly impossible situations.

You see, to most people in this world the idea of success is something that you’re either born with or buy.

Michael Jordan, Diego Maradona, and Muhammed Ali were born with talent for success, and all those millionaire businessmen have bought their success.

But, it’s all a lie. A lie we find refuge in when we either lack desire, or fear failure.

That’s why you need to revisit the toddler version of yourself.

Because, when you were small, walking, talking, reading, adding, subtracting, climbing, etc, etc, could all have been perceived as impossible tasks.

But, the toddler version of you didn’t believe that.

You watched other people walk, and no matter how many times you fell, you kept trying until you succeeded.

You watched other people speak, and no matter how many times you got tongue-tied, you kept trying until you were fluent.

You watched other people read, and no matter how confusing it appeared, you kept trying until you understood and could do it for yourself.

Failure was not an option. It didn’t even enter your head.

And that’s the attitude you need for 2013.

Einstein said;

You never fail until you stop trying.

How true that is!

How To Never Give Up

When you constantly reinforce in your mind this ‘never give up‘ motto, you will always be able to find a way through, even when things are tough, and you simply can’t imagine how you will work it out.

Of course, it may not be how you set out to achieve your goal, but you will get there somehow, and that’s all that matters.

So, perseverance is the most important skill you can have.

Did you notice I called it a ‘skill?’

That means you can learn how to stick with things, if you want to, you just need to find a way to keep going, and never give up on yourself.

Watch Others Succeed

This is my favorite piece of advice. It’s so powerful. Steve Jobs said,

Everything around you that you call life was made up by people who are no smarter than you.

So, when you feel like you can’t do anything right, it can be incredibly helpful to remind yourself of what others have achieved.

Here are a few of my favorite examples…

WARNING: you may be inspired to greatness! ;)

I think Ben’s story is truly inspirational. Just imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t decided to take those first very slow steps.

And, this is what happens when you refuse to give up… you cannot fail!

Another inspirational weight loss video — this is Rodger’s story;

The people in these videos shared a common trait, they believed in their dreams.

There will always be people who try to bring you down, and tell you that you cannot achieve what you want to achieve.

Be prepared for them, and don’t let anyone destroy your dreams.

Here are some examples of famous people who were told they couldn’t do it, but refused to believe what they were told;

My point? Basically, watch someone do something impossible, then go and do something impossible yourself.

You CAN be that person!

Remember, there are people all around the world who don’t get the opportunities you do.

You have the chance to change your life, try something impossible, and actually achieve something you want to achieve.

Don’t waste your chance because you’re too busy complaining about the pain it’s going to cause you to get there.

Don’t Make Quitting An Option

You need to make the decision that you are not going to quit, no matter what.

This is so simple, yet so effective.

You will get knocked down, but you need to get back up again. That’s what will separate you from those who will be successful in reaching their goals.

Here’s a little advice from Rocky;

Be relentless;

Fall down seven times. Get up eight. ~ Japanese Proverb

When you decide that quitting is not an option for you, no matter how many times you fail, quitting won’t be an option.

That means you will eventually see success, no matter how long it takes.

Do you believe that’s possible for you?

Loved your post. Tying the idea of giving up back to your toddler years was so well thought-out. It’s true. Kids really can’t afford to say, “I am going to give up.” How ironic that sometimes their wisdom is better than our own as adults.
