About Mel
In March last year I moved back home to Northern Ireland with my lovely husband Armen, after living in Australia for over two years, and in October ‘09 we had our first child, which we are so excited about!
You can find out more about our little baby Elissa here.
So, why does this blog exist?
I know that many people struggle with the confusing nutritional information so prevalent today.
So, as someone who is passionate about nutrition, my desire is to empower people like you to possess a better understanding of what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re after a personal blog, full of contradictory ideas and advice which isn’t founded on evidence, you’ve come to the wrong place.
Dietriffic is about evidence based information, equipping people with reliable advice.
I really encourage you to subscribe to the free updates, either via email, or RSS if you use a feedreader.
My Credentials
I graduated from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, with a BSc honors degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
I’m a member of the British Dietetic Association, and registered with the Health Professionals Council. I operate within the guidelines of the “Code of Conduct” for dietitians, and any advice or recommendations found on this site are “evidence based,” to the best of my knowledge.
Other Work
Back in May ‘09 I began a new editorial role at the well respected site Diet Blog, and I’ll be contributing regular articles over there, so keep an eye out for those.
For some time now I’ve been an expert writer for the Health Central Network, and I regularly write for their mini sites My Heart Central, the Cholesterol Network and My Diabetes Central.
Interviews, quotations and more:

Anyway, I trust this has given you a glimpse of who I am, and what I do. If you’re on a quest for a healthier lifestyle I’d love you to keep in touch and help me to help you!
